Let’s build a life that works for you.
If you’re reading this, something probably feels off in your life. Maybe you’re experiencing feelings of anxiety, or depression, or existential uncertainty and doubt. Perhaps past traumas still make it difficult to enjoy your life now. Maybe you’re simply hoping to understand yourself better, or move toward who you know yourself to be. I would like to help. As a therapist, my goal is to support my clients in discovering and using their own strengths to address the challenges that bring them to counseling. I know you have strengths, because you’ve survived your life so far.
How I think about therapy: In therapy, we have the opportunity to put our heads together and improve the day-to-day experience of your life. This work is highly personal and challenging. At its best, it's creative and empowering. I do my best to provide a warm, safe, and collaborative space to plan, practice, and debrief new ways of living as you begin to test them out in your real life. Therapy can be a way to have backup and safety that allows you to be courageous, take risks, and build a life that feels good for you. No one can do it alone, and I am honored whenever I get to be a part of this process.
My major areas of specialty include: gender exploration, LGBTQ+ care, complex trauma, mood disorders (including Bipolar disorder), emerging adult concerns, family of origin concerns, and navigating neurodivergence.
If you don’t see your concerns on this list, but still feel we might be a good fit, please reach out anyway, and we can chat about what you’re needing.
Hi, I’m Dr. Felix Deiss.
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has been working as a therapist since 2017. I have worked with a diverse group of clients with a wide range of struggles including feelings of depression, mood disorders, academic difficulties, identity exploration, anxiety, family conflict, relationship questions, experiences of discrimination, trauma, and grief and loss. I have also volunteered in the Emergency Room to counsel and advocate for people following sexual assault, and have experience in Wilderness Therapy. I received my doctorate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2021 and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Chicago in 2015, with a minor in Creative Writing. In addition to my clinical work, I teach graduate classes on diversity in clinical practice and love to write, read, climb, and bike. I am deeply committed to celebrating the uniqueness of every person I work with and always grateful when clients share their strengths and creativity with me.
